My prints have a traditional feel: they are copper plate etchings, using only line and cross-hatch in monotone to create a range of tones. They reflect a love and fascination of the masters of the etching revival. I explore topographical themes around the south coast and from travels around the world. They are observational with a strong narrative or point of interest. Some are boldly figurative reaching far beyond just vernacular architecture. Printmaking is the culmination of my various working methods which include drawing and painting.
Will Taylor RBA SGFA grew up in Liverpool and after a science and engineering education followed a first career in business consultancy. Choosing a dramatically different direction to develop an interest in arts and creativity, he is now an established artist and printmaker based in Rye East Sussex. He attended short schools at the Slade School of Fine Art London and Kent Institute of Art and Design Maidstone, but is predominantly self-taught.
He was elected a member of the RBA in 2018, and is also a member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art (Past President) and Rye Society of Artists. He has received both theme and print awards from the Society of Graphic Fine Art and print awards from the Pure Arts Group. His work appears in “The Artful Hare” (Mascot Media 2015)
